LONDON – ARE YOU READY FOR YOUR CLOSE UP?
Blockbuster Theme For New Year’s Parade – ‘Lights, Camera, Action’
The wonders of film and television are to be celebrated at London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2017 – it has been revealed.
The ‘blockbuster’ turn of year tradition on January 1st is to be themed ‘Lights, Camera, Action’.
More than 8,000 people from numerous nations will participate in the 31st annual parade – which (rather appropriately), will be televised live in the UK and around the World.
Executive Director Bob Bone, said: “The entire World has been beguiled by film and television down the decades – and we wanted to pay homage to the men and women that produce such brilliant entertainment.
“Our historic parade route will turn in to one giant film set.”
The parade, which starts at 12 Noon, runs from Green Park tube station, along Piccadilly to Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent St to Pall Mall, Trafalgar Sq, and Whitehall and ends at the junction of Parliament St and Parliament Sq.
The theme will be reflected by entries from numerous London boroughs, performance groups, marching bands, historic vehicles, cheerleaders, giant helium filled balloons and a myriad of other spectacular sights.
London’s New Year’s Day Parade has raised more than a million pounds for charities across the Capital.
Further details of the event will be revealed in the months to come.
