The London Borough of Sutton’s entry, ‘Don’t rain on our LNYDP Parade’, brought a touch of luck to proceedings in 2018, as the event was one of the driest yet!
The Borough has enjoyed a number of successes in past years, including 1st place prize in 2001. This year they were looking to win big with a performance created to suit the 2018 theme for ‘Showtime – Roll Up, Roll Up, to the Greatest Show on Earth’. The Gary Mason Charity, The Sutton Carers Centre and Pointers Dance Studio teamed up to ensure success for the Borough in 2018.
The Borough replicated all of the main elements of London’s New Year’s Day Parade, including Cheerleaders, Marching Bands, London Mayors, Pearly Kings, Queens and an variety of other performances. Last week (Monday 5th February) LNYDP Executive Director, Bob Bone, visited the Borough to present their participants with medals and the Borough’s charities with a £6,000 cheque for being voted 5th best borough for 2018. During the presentation the participants and their families were given a reminder on the Borough’s performance with a specially made video.
We would like to thank everyone that contributed to Sutton’s Borough entry and congratulate them on their success.
