The London Borough of Harrow has been climbing up the Borough Competition ladder in recent years and their team were determined to make an impact in 2018.
Their entry, ‘Harrow Can, Can ‘, took inspiration from the French tradition of Cabaret Entertainment and the Hollywood Blockbuster Moulin Rouge. Dancers, performers, outstanding costumes, followed by 1000 lights to illuminate their dazzling Showtime float certainly left it’s mark on the judging panel. Their spectacular interpretation of the 2018 theme, ‘Showtime – Roll Up, Roll Up, to the Greatest Show on Earth’, was just enough to win them the 2nd place prize of £9,000, narrowly beating Hounslow by 1 point.
The volunteer participants from drawn from a wide range of local community groups including, Wiseworks Community Mental Health Services, Beverley School of Performing Arts, Hatch End High School Drama Department and Shaftesbury High School for Special Needs. Earlier this month, Parade Executive Director, Bob Bone went to visit the London Borough of Harrow and their participants to award them with a parade participant medal and the cheque for £9,000. The prize money will be handed over the Mayor’s chosen charities.
We would like to thank all volunteer participants representing Harrow, and congratulate them on their success!
